What is a School Resource Officer (SRO)? |
A school resource officer is a sworn law enforcement officer pursuant to the requirement of any jurisdiction of this State, who has completed basic course of instruction for School Resource Officer as recognized by the National Association of School Resource Officer or the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and who is assigned to the school district to have as a primary duty the responsibility to act as a law enforcement officer, advisor, and teacher for the school district. In order to provide a safe learning environment for all students, the board supports the use of school resource officers to expand school safety efforts through prevention, diversion, and social support in and around the school/community. Who is Deputy Murray? |
It is a pleasure to introduce myself… My name is Deputy Nick A. Murray with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. I am the School Resource Officer assigned to Cherryvale Elementary School. I am excited to have this opportunity to mentor students and keep the children and staff of Cherryvale Elementary school safe. It is my goal to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and our youth, while maintaining a safe learning environment. I look forward to getting to know each and every student of Cherryvale Elementary School and being that person that they can count on in any given situation. |
