Dear Cherryvale Elementary School Parents and Guardians:

We are proud to be able to serve your children and you. As you know, the safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority.  So, we continually strive to provide a safe learning environment for them.

In order to maintain a safe environment in which our students can study and learn, it is necessary that we routinely practice our emergency and crisis response drills. In addition, as our staff members conduct our emergency drills and practice specific procedures with our students, we follow the Sumter School District Emergency Procedures.

The goal of any training drill is to improve our ability to protect students, reduce injuries, and save lives.  By practicing–everyone knows what to do and how to do it.  Also, drills allow us to evaluate our emergency operations plans and improve our response skills.

This letter serves as notification that we plan to conduct a Lockdown Drill—in collaboration or partnership with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and Sumter School District Emergency and Crisis Response personnel.  Please remember that safety practice drills are practiced to help maintain Cherryvale Elementary School as a safe place to learn and work.

Sincerely,

Henrietta H. Green, Ph.D.
